I’m not perfect, far from it. I’m just doing the best I can in the situation I’m in, and learning as I go

A bit about me…

I think our lives are fascinating, terrifying and inspiring. Mine for example is a rollercoaster of ups and downs – I sometimes truly believe someone writing a soap opera wouldn’t even consider giving me as many story lines as my life gives me.

Anyone looking at me from the outside in would believe I’m a confident, positive and happy person. And most of the time now, I’d agree with them. But it hasn’t always been this way. I’ve been bullied in every decade of my life – when I was at school, then in several places I’ve worked since leaving full time education including charities and social enterprises I’ve worked for.

I was also the victim of a robbery when I was 20, so I’ve lived my whole adult life managing PTSD, anxiety and depression. Alongside that, my desire to prove myself to the world, to be the best I could be, means I’ve also battled perfectionism and a constant negative chatter in my head. I wear my heart on my sleeve, I’m easily bruised, I’ve been known to take people’s comments and criticisms to heart and when I’ve been bullied it’s often ended up with me hitting rock bottom before taking steps to rebuild myself once again. I’ve felt shame, guilt, embarrassment, frustration, disappointment, fear, anger and hurt. But I’ve also felt love, joy, happiness, calm, peace, self-belief, self-confidence and finally now I’m getting to grips with my self-worth, passion and purpose in this world.

It’s not been an easy ride to get here. I’ve done a huge amount of work on myself and I’ve never been shy to reach out and get help when I’ve needed to.

I’ve applied what I’ve learned over the past 20 years to my life, to enable me to share with you what I’ve learned, what the science truly tells us to help cut through the noise and find the things we can all do which can make a real difference to our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing – just looking after one of them isn’t enough.

Bullying touches so many lives – let my experience and the knowledge and learning I’ve done help you to live the life you’ve dreamed of, which may now feel like a harder and scarier place to get to.

Other things to know about me: I’m a mum to an amazing little lad, I’m a partner to an amazing man, a sister, a daughter and a mischievous friend. I love spending time with my family, I love food (it would be so much easier if I didn’t) and I love helping people and feeling like I’m making a difference.

A little self-belief goes a long way

Shut out all the noise and think for a moment about the things you’ve overcome in your life to be here right now. Take those moments and let them be the strength that reminds you how truly incredible you are

Just knowing something isn't enough

I used to think knowledge is power, and it is, but it’s only truly powerful when you take that knowledge and turn it into action. I don’t know how many self help books I’ve read, but at the end I’ve not known how to use them in my life – that’s why I’ve developed these programmes in this way, so you can take action and you know what actions to take

We are all truly incredible and should be proud of who we are

It’s all too easy to feel beaten down by the world, to let the bullies, the obstacles and challenges overwhelm us and leave us feeling drained and hopeless. But we have a choice. The challenges we face, the recovery we make from when we hit rock bottom, that defines us and reminds us how incredible we all are. Sometimes the things we think we do are too small to celebrate, but getting back up after a knock requires inner strength, hope, resilience and determination. Accept the downs, without them we can’t truly appreciate the ups, but don’t dwell on the lows for too long. Take steps to minimise them and their impact, because living a life which feels happier and fuller of more moments of joy, laughter and love is much more enjoyable than the alternative.
